Welcome to GirokIQ. Your privacy is central to our mission of providing a "think on canvas" experience. This policy explains how your data is collected, used, and protected when you use the GirokIQ mobile application and services.

1 Introduction

GirokIQ is developed and operated by an independent developer. By using the app, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2 Information We Collect

We collect only the data necessary to provide you with a seamless, synced, and AI-enhanced note-taking experience.

A. Account Information

  • Email Address & Display Name: Collected during sign-up for account identification.

  • Apple ID: If using "Sign in with Apple," we receive a unique user identifier provided by Apple.

  • User ID: A unique UUID generated via Supabase Auth to manage your cloud data.

B. Content Data (Sync & Storage)

To enable syncing across your devices, the following are stored in our secure cloud database (Supabase):

  • Notebooks & Folders: Titles, timestamps, and organizational settings.

  • Canvas Elements: Drawing data (PKDrawing binary), ink strokes, images, text blocks, and their properties (position, size, z-index).

  • AI Chat Sessions: Chat titles and all messages sent and received.

C. Device & Presence Data

  • App State: We store your last active notebook and sync preferences to provide a consistent experience.

  • Real-time Presence: When a notebook is open, your User ID and platform ("ios") are broadcast to a secure channel via Supabase Realtime to manage active sessions.

  • Biometrics: If you enable Face ID/Touch ID, the biometric data never leaves your device. We only store a local preference indicating the lock is enabled.

3 Third-Party Data Processing

We use high-quality third-party services to power GirokIQ. Your data is shared with them only for the functional purposes described below:

Supabase Cloud Hosting & Auth Account info, notes, drawings, and app state.
Anthropic (Claude) AI Assistant Chat messages and canvas screenshots (when vision features are used).
Apple Authentication Identity tokens for Sign in with Apple.

Important Note on AI: When you use the AI chat or vision features, your text and canvas screenshots are processed by Anthropic. This data is used solely to generate responses and is subject to Anthropic's privacy standards.

4 What We Do NOT Collect

No Tracking

We do not use advertising or tracking SDKs.

No Analytics

We do not use third-party analytics (like Firebase or Mixpanel) to track your behavior.

No Crash Reporting

We do not use external crash reporting services.

No Data Mining

Your notes are yours. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

5 Data Storage and Retention

  • Local Storage: All content is cached locally on your device in a secure SQLite database (GRDB) for offline use.

  • Cloud Storage: Data is retained in Supabase as long as your account is active.

  • Deletion: You may delete your account and all associated data at any time via the app settings.

6 Your Rights & Control

  • Export: You can use the "Export All Data" feature within the app to retrieve your information.

  • Access/Correction: You can update your display name and content directly in the app.

  • Children's Privacy: GirokIQ is not specifically directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

7 Governing Law

As the developer is based in Mexico, this policy is governed by the laws of Mexico.
